MIAA Honors Two Hope Women's Soccer Players
The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named two Hope freshmen as its players of the week. Midfielder Erin Jipping is the offensive player of the week while sweeper Courtney Schmidt is the defensive player of the week.
A freshman from Holland, Mich. (West Ottawa HS), Erin Jipping scored three goals, including the go-ahead score and an insurance tally in the second half, as the Flying Dutch defeated Kalamazoo, 4-2, to remain in the thick of the MIAA race. Jipping is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
A freshman from Lowell, Mich. (Lowell HS), Courtney Schmidt anchored the Hope defense as the Flying Dutch remained just three points behind conference leader Adrian in the MIAA race with wins over Kalamazoo, 4-2, and Saint Mary's, 2-0. Schmidt is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
