The Flying Dutch lost a heartbreaker in the semi-finals of the conference tournament Tuesday, bowing in the closing seconds of overtime to visiting Alma 2-1. The loss ends Hope's season. The Dutch posted a 13-6 overall record and end third in the MIAA's seasonal standings with a 7-3 mark.
Hope's goal was scored by senior Allison VanBeek three minutes into the second half with an assist credited to Kristin Schwenk. Van Beek had a team-leading 12 goals this season. Hope ended with a 20-16 shot advantage. Each team had seven corner kicks. Hope goalkeeper Kelsey Bos made five saves.
